INDEPENDENT STUDY FOR CURRENTLY ENROLLED STUDENTS -
Trillium Charter School is offering a non-classroom based independent study (homeschool) program for grades TK-5.
Students and families meet regularly with a credentialed independent study teacher and do the rest of their learning at home. Families are given access to the teacher's guides and curriculum used at Trillium Charter School as well as a small budget for additional educational materials. Families can choose paper-based or online learning. Students are invited to come on campus for part of the day or week to join both the regular school day and the after care program.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Trillium Charter School?
Trillium Charter School is a public school, funded through California state educational funds. There is no charge for our school program.
How do I know what to teach my child?
We help parents tailor the learning environment to their child, creating a truly personalized program. We provide parents with a credentialed teacher to guide and assist them with curriculum choices and strategies, while allowing parents to choose instructional material that best meet their students needs and/or interests.
What if I have a problem?
Your teacher is there to guide you and provide assistance every step of the way. Every teacher is available through email or by phone. You will meet with him or her weekly to discuss your child's progress and any difficulties you may be experiencing. If you think that your child would benefit from additional one-on-one tutoring, talk to your teacher.
Where do I get curriculum?
Students are allotted educational resource funds which are managed by your teacher. Together, you and your teacher will determine how to best use these funds for your child's education. Funds may be used for curriculum, books, school supplies, and classes with community vendors. Your teacher will explain all the different options available to you. All materials remain the property of Trillium Charter School and must be returned if you transfer to another school.
I'm not ready to enroll, but I need more information.
Our website, trilliumcharter.weebly.com, has lots of information to help you decide if our school is a good fit for you and your family. If you have further questions, or would just like to speak to one of our teachers to find out if our school is right for your child, please call us at 707-822-4721.
Am I, as a parent, solely responsible for my child's education?
No. When you agree to enroll your child in our charter school you accept responsibility to oversee your child's education, as the primary facilitator in your child's learning program as overseen by a credential teacher. You and your teacher work in partnership to establish the educational opportunities for your child along with having access to the supporting services, staff, and resources of your charter school.
Is there a particular type of curriculum we are required to use?
No. While there is no required curriculum, Trillium offers state-adopted curriculum that matches what is used in our site-based program or a comparable curriculum of your choosing that is age/grade appropriate. Students are given great latitude in how they learn as long as they demonstrate adequate and appropriate academic progress. You may choose from a wide variety of curricula to fit your child's learning style or individualized needs.
Do you offer any on-campus classes?
Yes, we offer classes through our hybrid program. Students are invited on campus as long as they meet all state requirements and Trillium behavior norms, including immunizations. Students can choose one of the following schedules:
- Mornings (8:45-1) Monday through Friday on site with independent study in the afternoons
- Monday-Thursday whole or half day with independent study on Fridays
- Field trips only
- Other schedules as determined appropriate by the teacher
